Centered around the famous Aliwagwag Falls—the highest waterfall in the Philippines with cascading tiers dropping over 1,200 feet—the landscape features verdant tropical rainforests, crystal-clear rivers, and abundant wildlife. The protected area spans rugged mountainous terrain, with elevations supporting diverse ecosystems from lowland dipterocarp forests to montane forests rich in endemic plant and animal species. The site is important for both biodiversity conservation and cultural heritage, with indigenous peoples inhabiting parts of the area practicing traditional sustainable land use.

Visitors are drawn to Aliwagwag’s scenic beauty and outdoor recreation, including trekking through jungle trails that reveal multiple waterfalls and birdwatching opportunities for rare species like the Philippine eagle. The area also supports small-scale fishing and nature photography. Access to Aliwagwag Falls is via serene drives through forested roads, culminating in a hike down stepped trails that provide breathtaking views of the waterfalls and surrounding forest.

Established to protect the rich ecological and cultural values of the region, Aliwagwag Protected Landscape remains a less commercialized but highly rewarding destination for travelers seeking natural beauty and tranquility.
